Lon Normandin
Owner, Normandin Chrysler
Mr. Normandin is the current President of the Board of Directors of The Catholic Foundation of Santa Clara County. Mr. Normandin received his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Santa Clara University. He is most commonly known as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Normandin Chrysler-Jeep. Normandin's Chrysler Jeep in San Jose, California is possibly the oldest automotive dealership in America. The dealership’s history dates back to the horse-and-buggy days. It first opened its doors in 1875, two decades prior to the advent of the American automobile industry.
In addition to being a successful local businessman, Mr. Normandin is very active in the community. He donates his time and talents to a variety of charitable organizations. Other than serving on the Catholic Foundation's Board of Directors, he is also the Chairman of the Board of Regents at Bellarmine College Preparatory and a Trustee at Presentation High School . Mr. Normandin is the founder and board member of Heritage Bank of Commerce. He currently serves on the Board of Fellows at Santa Clara University , Bishop's Circle of Excellence, Caritas Society and the Catholic Professionals Club. Moreover, he has served as a Director of Catholic Charities, O'Connor Hospital Hospice Program, Serra Club of San Jose, St. Elizabeth's Day Home and Co-Chairman of the Holy Spirit School Capital Campaign. Lon has been married to Peggy for 49 years, has six adult children and twelve grandchildren. Mr. Normandin is a member of St. Mary's Parish, Los Gatos .
Justice Eugene Premo
Judge, California Court of Appeal
Justice Eugene Premo, a native of San Jose , received a Bachelor of Science degree from Santa Clara University where he was the Editor-In-Chief of the school paper. Before entering SCU's School of Law , Justice Premo served two years as an officer in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps. In 1962, he graduated cum laude from the School of Law where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review; was elected to Alpha Sigma Nu, the national honor society of Jesuit universities and was named Outstanding Law Graduate at commencement. In 1991, Santa Clara University honored Justice Premo with the Owens Award and in 2006 the Lifetime Achievement Award. He has taught at the SCU School of Law as an adjunct professor and is a member of the SCU School of Law Board of Visitors.
In 1969, Justice Premo was appointed a municipal court judge of the Santa Clara Judicial District by Ronald Reagan, later serving as president of the Municipal Court Judges Association. In 1974 he was elevated to the Santa Clara County Superior Court where he served as assistant presiding judge and presiding judge. In 1988, he was appointed to the Sixth District Court of Appeal by George Deukmejian. He has since served as a member of the Commission on Judicial Performance, including two years as its chair.
Justice Premo has been a member of Kiwanis Club and a member of the Athletic Advisory Board of Santa Clara University. He also served as board member, vice-president and president of Barristers Club of California (now California Young Lawyers Association). He was a board member and vice president of the California Judges Association for three years. He has also taught Continuing Education classes at the Judges' College, University of California CEB programs and served on education panels sponsored by the Rutter Group.
Justice Premo and wife Georgine Drees Premo have four adult children and eight grandchildren. They are members of St. Mary's Parish, Los Gatos .
Charmaine Warmenhoven
Community Volunteer
Charmaine Warmenhoven received a B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University and an M.A. in Special Education from Teachers College, Columbia University .
Ms. Warmenhoven has spent a 25-year career as a teacher and administrator in Special Education and Disability Ministry. From 1988 through 2001, she was Associate Director of Special Ministries at the Diocese of San Jose. Her work at the Diocese centered on people with disabilities. The ministry assists parishes in the inclusion of people with disabilities into all aspects of parish life. She helped parishes develop catechetical programs for children with disabilities. And her work in Deaf Ministry provided catechesis in sign language for deaf children and adults. Ms. Warmenhoven also assisted in the development of parish-based Pastoral Ministry programs, providing training for Ministers to the Sick and Bereaved. Prior to her work for the Diocese, Ms. Warmenhoven taught in special education classrooms in public and private settings and was the Director of the Scott Parker School for Special Needs students in Henderson , North Carolina .
Ms. Warmenhoven is very active in the community. She is a Board member of the Catholic Foundation of Santa Clara County; a member of the Implementation Fund Grant Committee for the Diocese of San Jose; a committee member of the Campaign Advisory Committee; a member of Bishop's Circle of Excellence and Caritas; Board member of Villa Montalvo; Board member of St. Francis High School and Presentation Retreat Center . Other affiliations include Catholic Charities, Knights of Saint John, the American Cancer Society and the Tech Museum of Innovation. Ms. Warmenhoven and her husband Dan were presented as Laureates at the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame on March 30, 2004 .
Charmaine and her husband, Dan, have two children, Eric and Laura. They are members of Sacred Heart Parish in Saratoga .
Dr. Joseph Krackeler
PhD, Consultant
Dr. Krackeler received his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Villanova University . He received a Master of Science in Engineering from Princeton University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from Northeastern University . Dr. Krackeler held many positions at Raychem Corporation including Director of Technology and Vice President of Raychem International.
Dr. Krackeler has experienced a variety of entrepreneurial activities. This includes the starting of a real estate investment news letter, buying a mail order business in sports memorabilia, owning and operating a number of income properties and teaching chemistry and property management at DeAnza College and Foothill College . He also operated a consulting business in the field of polymer chemistry which included technical due diligence for venture capitalists, insurance claims technical investigations, patent and legal suits, patent evaluations and materials science research for clients.
Dr. Krackeler and wife Rita are parishioners at St. Nicholas in Los Altos . He has served in multiple capacities including past president of the Parish Council, past chairman of the Finance Council, past chairman of the St. Nicholas Capital Campaign and currently serves as chairman of St. Nicholas portion of the Diocesan Capital Campaign. He is also a founding Board of Director member of the Catholic Foundation of Santa Clara County and is currently serving as the secretary-treasurer of the Board of Directors.
Cora Tomalinas
Vice Chair, San Jose Community Development Block Grant Committee
Ms. Tomalinas was born in Agoo, La Union, Philippines. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from San Francisco State University . She then moved to San Jose and served at San Jose Hospital and Santa Teresa Hospital . She has been married to Robert Tomalinas for 35 years and has two adult children, Maria and Robert.
Ms. Tomalinas serves on an impressive list of Boards, Commissions, Task Forces and groups advocating community issues.
Through her participation with St. Maria Goretti Parish, she became a member of PACT (People Acting in Community Together) Steering Committee. She is a member of East Side Union High School Districts Parents Safety Council and Franklin McKinley Education Foundation (now San Jose Education Foundation). Ms. Tomalinas is a Community Liaison for the Mayor's Gang Prevention Task Force, a collaborative effort involving private citizens, city, county, state, local community-based organizations, youth commissioners, schools, parents, faith community and local law enforcement to “reclaim” San Jose 's youth.
In addition, she has been Vice-Chairperson for the San Jose Community Development Block Grant Committee, as well as a member of the Filipino Task Force for Domestic Violence Prevention, the Santa Clara County Immunization Project, the District 7 Positive Action Team, the San Jose New Realities, the Civic Center Relocation Task Force. From 2000 to 2002 Ms. Tomalinas served as the Vice Chairperson for the First 5 Santa Clara County Commission and San Jose Early Care and Education Commission. Most recently, Mrs. Tomalinas was a member of the Mayors High School Parents Education Summit.
Presently, she is a member of United Way Self Sufficiency & Leadership Development Council.
George M. Scalise
President, Semiconductor Industry Association
George M. Scalise is president of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) where he directs a staff focused on International Trade & Government Affairs, Workforce, Technology, Environmental-Safety & Health, and Communications.
Mr. Scalise came to the SIA from Apple Computer, where he served as executive vice president of operations. Prior to that, he held executive management positions at National Semiconductor, Maxtor Corporation, Advanced Micro Devices, Fairchild Semiconductor and Motorola Semiconductor.
A graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, Scalise is a highly respected technology industry spokesperson and carries a special interest and expertise in technology, international trade, and competition issues. He was a founding member of the Semiconductor Research Corporation, an industry-funded organization that provides resources for pre-competitive semiconductor research at American universities.
Mr. Scalise currently serves on President George W. Bush's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology as well as numerous boards, including Cadence Design Systems, Intermolecular, and iSuppli Corporation. He has also served on the boards at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco where he was Chairman and was Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Conference of Chairman of the Federal Reserve System, SEMATECH, Semiconductor Research Corporation, the Bay Area Economic Forum, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations Economic Task Force on Japan. He participates on advisory committees at the College of Engineering at Purdue University and is a member of the California Council on Science and Technology Fellows Program. He served on the advisory committees at the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University and the School of Engineering at the University of Southern California . He was named a Distinguished Engineering Alumnus of Purdue University in 2002. He also chaired the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board, U.S. Department of Energy.
Mr. Scalise and his family attend St. Nicholas Parish, Los Altos .
Thanh Nguyen
CEO, Paramit Corporation
Mr. Nguyen earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University . He worked for several high tech companies in a variety of Engineering and Management positions. Then in 1990, Mr. Nguyen co-founded the Paramit Corporation, helping to establish the company's vision of manufacturing technology leadership while building a solid reputation with both customers and suppliers. Currently, Mr. Nguyen serves as the CEO of the Paramit Corporation.
In addition, Mr. Nguyen volunteers as a member of the Board of Directors for the Catholic Foundation of Santa Clara County, as well as a board member of the Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, and American Leadership Forum of Silicon Valley. Mr. Nguyen is a member of St. Mary's Parish, Los Gatos .
Katherine Dunlap
CPA
Ms. Dunlap has spent 25 years as a CPA in Accounting and Tax. Prior to moving to California , Ms. Dunlap worked for Arthur Young (now Ernst & Young) auditing both corporations and nonprofit organizations, including the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth in New Jersey . Ms. Dunlap transferred to the San Jose Office in 1981 where she served clients such as Intel and Genentech, and was promoted to partner in 1987. Later, Ms. Dunlap left public accounting to start her own practice, serving companies such as Levi Strauss and Netscape.
Kathy and her husband Tom have raised two daughters, Bridgette and Katie, who attended both St. Mary's School in Los Gatos (their parish) and Archbishop Mitty High School . Kathy served on the Boards at both schools, and was President of the Mitty Board of Regents and co-chair of the Millennium Campaign.
Ronald G. Pelzel
President of the Board of Catholic Charities
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Masters of Business Administration with majors in Accounting and Finance.
Mr. Pelzel held executive level positions in Finance Administration and General Management in the hotel and transportation industries. Previous positions include CEO at Viking Freight Inc. and Viking Freight System, Inc.
Mr. Pelzel is a member of St. Mary Parish and active in the community. Founding member of St. Mary’s Pastoral Council, Peace and Justice Council, Finance Council and the Chair of the Capital Campaign. He is a member of the Bishop’s Circle of Excellence and on the Priest’s Retirement Committee. Mr. Pelzel has been a member, Vice President and currently, President of the Board of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County.
Mary Quilici Aumack
Community Volunteer
Ms. Aumack was born and raised in Santa Clara County and is a 4th generation Californian. She is a graduate of Notre Dame High School in San Jose and Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, where she earned a degree in Accounting and Economics. She enjoyed a 20+ year career in the high tech industry and “retired” in 2004 as Vice President of Enterprise Distribution for Hewlett Packard. She is currently active in real estate management and development with her husband Doug.
An active volunteer, Mary serves on the Emeritus Board of Directors and is Volunteer Coordinator for the Caritas Society of Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County. She is a member of the Board of Fellows of Santa Clara University. She is also a member of the Bishop’s Circle of Excellence and the Catholic Business Professionals Club. She is an active parishioner at St. Mary’s.
Mary and Doug have been married 25 years and have one grown daughter, Kacey
Joe Guerra
Parishioner St. Leo the Great
Mr. Guerra is Land Acquisitions Manager for SunCal Companies. He is responsible for acquisitions in Northern California as well as project operational support for a number of existing projects in the region. In addition to his position at SunCAl, Joe is an Adjunct Professor at Golden Gate University in the Masters in Public Administration program and does Organizational Development consulting for a number of organizations. Previously Joe was Budget and Policy Director for the City of San Jose. His office had budget oversight responsibility for all City and Redevelopment Agency activities as well as the Mayor’s policy initiatives. During his 14 years with the City he also served as Chief of Staff for City Councilmember Frank Fiscalini for six years. Before joining the City, Joe owned and managed three different companies in the fields of Newspaper publishing, real estate sales and political/public affairs consulting. Joe currently serves on the Board of Regents for Archbishop Mitty High School. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the California Association of Realtors, the San Jose Stage Company, and SPEAK-UP! Leadership Program for Girls. In his spare time, Joe is also the assistant varsity coach for Archbishop Mitty High School women’s basketball team.
